The Director, Consulting Programs is a leadership role within the Program Management function for Bain Australia. This role is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and operational management of the Australian local staffing & professional development program relating to Senior Managers & Associate Partners (SMAPs), and includes collaboration with Expert Client Delivery (ECD) service lines. The role is also responsible for identifying and driving initiatives to maintain a high-performing Program Management team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Reporting to the Vice President of Staffing, this position is principally responsible for:
- Providing overall leadership of the Program Management (PM) function, developing and leading a highly effective and cohesive PM team to serve business needs and deliver on priorities
- Optimizing resource utilization (staffing) and associated costs and revenue management
- Overseeing directly staffing, professional development support for General Consulting SMAPs
- Leading and driving continuous improvement and implementation of staffing, talent management and professional development practices
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Office Head to optimise commercial outcomes for the business, tracking, reporting and strategizing on appropriate staffing and investment trade-offs. Reporting to the region and globe as necessary
- Optimizing resource utilization and associated cost and revenue management
- Working with other program managers to staff balanced, high performing teams (from Associate Consultant to Associate Partner) across the Australian cluster, optimizing the trade-offs between client service, utilization, professional development and retention.
- Coordinating with regional and global staffing teams to manage and support client and IP demands, and share best practices
- Managing talent pipeline through internal transfers, onboarding, retention, leave of absences, flexible working options and performance management strategies
- Overseeing directly staffing, professional development for General Consulting Senior Managers and Associate Partners (SMAPs)
- First point of contact for Partners and SMAPS on staffing and professional development topics
- Developing, leading and evolving as necessary the performance management team, as well as broader Human Capital team as a senior leader
- Communications and stakeholder engagement on staffing and professional development strategies, policies and activities
- Driving performance review and promotion process for consulting staff
- Liaising with ECD leaders and program managers to ensure coordinated staffing of integrated teams
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within professional services, ideally within blue-chip Management Consulting
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing teams
- Inspirational and confident leadership, people management and development skills, operating with a wide range of people from highly senior leadership and day-to-day teams at levels
- Experience of staffing and utilization management and leading a program management function
- Strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills both as an independent contributor and in directing teams
- Excellent communication skills and strong influencer in the business
- Strong change design, implementation leadership management skills to evolve operations
- Sound judgement and objectivity
